An Australian trade unionist due to take part in the annual rally to commemorate the Tolpuddle Martyrs, who were deported for forming a trade union, has herself been deported.

Commenting on the latest analysis of pay in the public and private sector, published today (Tuesday) by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:

Today (Tuesday) it is 63 years since the NHS was founded. Across the UK health professionals are celebrating the NHS' birthday whilst warning that the government's proposed reforms will fundamentally alter the health service and undermine the basic principles on which it was founded.
