UCU today announced that its members at the University of West England (UWE) will be balloted for strike action in a dispute over workloads. The ballot opens today and will close on Wednesday 6 June.
Staff and students at the University of Sussex will be protesting against plans to privatise university's support services next week.
UCU has today written to the universities minister, David Willetts, calling for urgent changes to the way the government regulates private higher education providers.
