Commenting on the latest inflation figures published today (Tuesday) which show that consumer price index (CPI) annual inflation fell to 3 per cent and retail price index (RPI) annual inflation fell to 3.5 per cent in April, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
The cost of living for the poorest 10 per cent of households increased by 4.1 per cent in March, eight times faster than average weekly earnings, according to the TUC living standards index which has been updated today (Tuesday) ahead of new inflation figures published later this morning.
The TUC is to organise a mass demonstration in London under the banner of ‘A Future That Works' on Saturday 20 October 2012. A march through central London will culminate in a rally in Hyde Park.
