UCU today warned the University of Sussex that it will face a second round of strike action on Wednesday 5 May if it pushes ahead with controversial plans for over 100 compulsory redundancies.
Members of UCU at Southgate College will be demonstrating at a lunchtime protest on Tuesday 27 April against plans to axe 60 jobs. The 1pm event has been organised after shocked staff were hit with the news of job losses as they broke up for the Easter holidays.

Principals' pay increased seven times more than lecturers in last year alone
Members of UCU at Northumberland College today brought the college to a standstill. Classes were cancelled as staff walked out in a row over job losses, pay cuts and increased working hours.
Redcar and Cleveland College has announced that up to 50 jobs could go at the college. More than one in five jobs at the college are at risk and no department is safe from the spectre of redundancy. The first people through the door could be leaving as early as the end of May.
Plans could lead the country into a double dip recession.
