Labour’s serious plan will get the UK back on its feet

Commenting on Keir Starmer’s speech to the Labour Party conference in Liverpool today (Tuesday), UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea said:

“This was an inspiring speech from a leader who understands the chronic challenges facing the UK.

“After 13 years of dreadful government decision-making, Keir outlined a costed, rigorous and serious plan to get the country back on its feet.

“This offered hope for a future where the government will serve in the interests of working people and their families.

“Hospitals, schools, police forces, universities, town halls and the workers who run them know public services will be in safe hands under a Labour government. With Keir as prime minister, Britain will get its future back.”

It’s time for a government that puts the country first, says UNISON

Commenting on Keir Starmer’s speech at the 154th Trades Union Congress in Brighton, UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea said: “It’s time for a government that puts the country first, is on the side of struggling families and anyone being ill-treated at work.

“A Labour government under Keir would work with unions to solve problems, not see them as the enemy. Public services would be properly funded, its workforce paid a decent wage and social care transformed.

“The Tories know the game is up. It’s time for them all to stand aside and let someone else take the reins. A general election right away is the only way to put an end to the chaos in Westminster.”
